THE PERKS OF LIVING IN A LIBYAN CONFLICT ZONE

“With freedom, books, flowers and the moon, who could not be happy?” – Oscar Wilde

That’s what I kept telling myself during the long nights of power cuts in my city. Gazing at the stars was and still is the only thing that makes me feel connected to the universe. It helps me to forget the random gun shots echoing nearby. My books were my gateway from reality – my freedom. Well not really, but at least my spirit was free.

I must admit, it has not been easy living in Libya while being a person who believes in peace, art and music, and it became harder for me after the country was ravaged from war. I remember deciding that after the revolution I would avoid politics and all civil initiatives. I was happy at my newly started business, Awars Consultancy LLC., but happy days don’t last for very long. The country entered into another armed conflict; blood, destruction and oppression followed. We were watching everything crumbling to dust; all of our dreams of bright futures, social justice and prosperity. It was chaos on all levels including the civil initiatives. I felt guilty being passive; and I decided to engage more as a civil agent, to be a part of reshaping Libya, and somehow contribute to creating a better future for the next generations.

People think that working as civil agent is about travelling, exclusive invitations to important meetings, events and privilege, but it’s not – at least not for me. It is a great responsibility and constant stress. You have to deal with personal fear to serve the cause. For me that meant giving public speeches, writing opinions and being accountable for them, stepping out of a comfort zone, dealing with online bullies, being innovative, and always positive no matter how you really feel. It means remaining supportive within a negative atmosphere that feeds on your sufferings; it’s not easy at all.

But we have to do it all while smiling and remaining positive. When things get darker I follow Charles Bukowski’s advice, “People empty me. I have to get away to refill”. However I don’t have to go far away to refill, I just drive to the nearest beach or café facing the sea front and enjoy the calmness. The war crashed through my city – the buildings, streets and people, scarring everything, but it couldn’t change the sea. I keep telling myself that strong things don’t allow hatred and negativity to leave their blemishes on them, no matter how brutal the situation, strong and genuine beings remain the same.

If I can offer advice on how to survive in a conflict zone, I’d say spend time stargazing or meditating, and read poetry – yes poetry in a place filled with hatred and greed. Poetry will cleanse your soul and nourish it with beauty. Read, acquire new knowledge or skills. And finally, make time for the ones you love be it your family or friends.

So if I may rephrase what Wilde said, I’d say: “With freedom, books, flowers, the moon, a loving family and a noble cause, who could not be happy? Even if they live in a war zone”

5 Reasons make Sartre an Extraordinary Thinker

 

“Sartre is one of the great philosophers in the history.”
“Sartre was an exceptional writer and thinker who wrote about human reality.”
“Sartre led an enlightenment movement in France and the rest of the world.”

I am certain you have heard all these sentences describing Jean-Paul Sartre; one of the beautiful minds that have ever lived, but I will share with you five reasons that made Sartre’s an inspiring human being who left his inerasable mark on the history.

1- He had though childhood but it didn’t stop him, he lost his father in early age, lived with his grandfather, his mom remarried and he couldn’t fit in easily with others. But it didn’t get into his spirit and he managed to put his mark on the modern history.

2- He was deep. One of the best example is his famous quote “Hell is other people” which by the way is widely misunderstood, he didn’t mean that compare people with hell, he had a deeper meaning. Sartre assumed that we cannot understand ourselves without taking into consideration how people regard us, therefore these judgments will be part of who we are, and how we regard ourselves, this is why he concludes that “hell is other people”. You may need to read the waiters and women in the first date examples.

3- He was a fighter. He dedicated his life for the cause he believed in, in the existentialism movement he promoted humanism and free thinking, he also gave special attention to socialism, and he was anti-fascism and anti-imperialism and to conclude it all he was anti-war. That made him an influential figure, that made President Charles de Gaulle describe him as Voltaire while ordering to pardon for Sartre who was arrested for protest against the the president himself. “You don’t arrest Voltaire!”

4- On 1964 he refused the Nobel Prize, Yes he did turned down the Nobel Prize for literature. He refused to be branded;  he explained “A writer should not allow himself to be turned into an institution.”

5- He wrote a great love letters, I personally love his letters, its shows the depth of their relationship, that magical combination between love and friendship. He always ended the letter with his assurance of love in very special way; here are some examples from my favorite letters.

نهاية الفصل السادس مسلسل صراع العروش كانت مبهرة و فاقت كل التوقعات, و حمل المسلسل في حلقاته العديد من الرسائل الهامة سواء على جنون السلطة,  التضحيات , الميكافيللية و الأعيب السياسة , و قد وجدت أربعة مشاهد تلخص نصائح هامة لأصحاب الأعمال و اختصرها في التالي:

1- ” رجاءً لا تلتهم المساعدة”

العلاقة مع الموردين و شبكة المعارف

من أهم أسس نجاح أي مشروع أو عمل تكوين شبكة موردين للمحافظة على سير العمل و و بالاضافة لتكوين شبكة من المعارف تتمكن من خلالها تسهيل أعمالك أو طلب النصح و المشورة, عبارة تايرون لتنانين دينيرس تختصر هذا المفهوم, في العمل أحرص على تقوية علاقتك مع شبكتي الموردين فأي خلل في هذه العلاقات قد يضر بسير عمليات عملك , مما قد يترتب عليه تأخير في التنفيذ أو تغريمك بمبالغ تفوق ما تم رصده لتسيير هذه العمليات.

2- ” لقد كتب الماضي الآن و جف الحبر”

تقبل الأخطاء و التعامل مع الفشل

الشعور بالندم و التحسر على الفرص أو الرغبة في تصحيح الأخطاء قد يكون معرقل كبير لنجاحك في عملك, للاستمرار في النجاح عليك أن تتقبل أنه يصعب الرجوع إلى الماضي و كذلك أن تتقبل الأخطاء و تعمل على محاولة تجنبها أو بناء خطط جديدة لتلافي نتائجها أو خسائرها.

3- ” لا أحد منكم يصلح للقيادة, و لكنني قادرة”

قدرات التواصل الفعالة

في هذا المشهد نجد دينيرس “ملكة التنانين” في مجلس كبير يشبه مجالس ادارات او قاعات اجتماعات, و قد استطاعت دينيرس بخطاب ورسالة واضحة أن تثبت قدرتها و أحقيتها للقيادة.  و هكذا فإن الطريقة المضمونة للوصول الى أي نتائج مرجوة هي الثقة بقدراتك و التعبير عنها في رسائل واضحة و التي ستجبر الآخرين على الاصغاء إليها و التواصل معك. هذا المشهد قد يلائم كثيراً النساء الساعيات للتميز في ريادة الأعمال أو الطامحات للوصول الى المراكز القيادية.

مهارات التسويق

 القدرة على ترويج المواد او الخدمات و عرضها بأفضل صورة هي  مهارة ضرورية, التسويق يتعدا التسويق للمنتجات للتسويق للأفكار و الانجازات. قدرة تايرون على اظهار شيء من الايجابية في هذا المشهد مع الوضع الصعب في المدينة تستحق الاطراء .

اليوم الذكرى الأليمة وفاة المناضلة سلوى بوقعيقيص،  لا توجد كلمات تعبر عن الفقد الكبير لسيدة عظيمة مثلها، لكن يحضرني اليوم القول” حاولوا أن يدفنوننا، ولكنهم لم يعرفوا اننا بذور” نعم قد حاولوا ان يسكتوا صوت الحراك المدني المسالم لكنهم لم يتمكنوا و اليوم بعد عامين من رحيلها ارى نواة الحركة المدنية الحقيقية، حركة التغيير التي حلمت بها سلوى لبناء الدولة المدنية. و أرى نساء رائعات يعملن رغم كل التحديات و المخاطر. 

فلتنامي في سلام يا أيقونتنا،، فلديك بنات سيحققن حلمك..

في حب الشاهي…

“و لا كيفك كيف يا شاهيا ….  اداوي علايل من بلاه في راسه”

” فليذهب هذا العالم للجحيم… و لكن يجب أن احظى دائماً بكوب الشاي خاصتي” عبارة دوستويفكسي ما فارقتنيشعليا طول يوم أمس بعدهلبه مشاوير درتها بدون ما نأخذ طاسة شاهي متاع الصبح, بعد ما شاركتها على الفيسبوك قعدت نفكر ليش فيه هوس كبير على موضوع القهوة و قهوة الصباح و غيرها مع اننا شعب تاريخيا يحب الشاهي..

صورة الملك ادريس و هو يدير في الشاهي مع الملكة فاطمة رحمة الله عليهما, أثرت فيا و اكدت على افكاري نحنا شعب جزء من تركيبتنا الشاهي.

على اختلاف اذواقنا سواء نحبوه  أحمر أو اخضر , قوي او خفيف. بكشكوشة ( رغوة) و الا بالنعناع, مرات ممكن بالزعتر او حتى بالقرفة  في الشتاء, حتى  العطر و المريمية نحبوهم مع الشاهي.. نغنوا على طاسة الشاهي متاع العالة و خصوصا لو باللوز الاخضر اللي مقشر خصيصا للطويسة و مقسم لكل العيلة و الا على الكاكاوية المحمصة طازة على الكانون في ايام الشتاء .. نحبوا العالة و و نديرولها في مفارش خاصة حتى الصطوفة ( البريموس) عندهه قفطان خاص بيها لما يجونا الضيوف و فيه من يشرب فيه في الطواسي العاديات..

حتى في الشعرالشعبي هلبه غناوي و اشعار تغني على البراد و طويسة الشاهي, مثلاً يقول واحد من الابيات في وصف شوقه للوطن و يربطه ببراد الشاهي الاخضر اللي يطيب على الفحم:

حال غايتي براد شاهي خضرة …. على نار الجمر من بعيد أتبان
في وطن خالي فيه ضيء القمرة …  اينسي امواجع موش للنسيان

و يقول واحد تاني في وصف عمليه تركيك الشاهي و تطييبه اللي مرات تطلع المية على البراد:

البراد يبكي النار حرقاته … جيبو الطواسي يمسحوا دمعاته

و الشعر مثلا يتبع فيه الشاعر اسلوب المناجاة و الالتماس و يشكي فيه لبراد الشاهي وحدته و هموم خاطره:

لا ناس لا وناسه
ليلي طويل و ركركي يا طاسه
كابر كسادي… لا ناس لا وناسه
و لا قمر ضيه
ولا شمع يضوي لا فتيله حية
و لا في ونيس نخبره مابيا
كيفي يتنهد ضايقات انفاسه
عرمرم ضلام الليل كابر غيه
وغايب سهيل و نجمته البقاصه
من غير شاهي على حطب برية
زين يتمركج قايسله قياسه
و لا كيفك كيف يا شاهيا
اداوي علايل من بلاه في راسه

و شاعر تاني فاقد  رفيقه و يتسائل لو المرارة من الشاهي و الا من بعد من كان اقرب من خوه , يوصف في مرارة البعد بمرارة الشاهي و يحلف ان بعد صاحبه معاش فيه طاسة باهية:

طعمة الشاهي مـــــــــر ولاَّ ريقي
زايـــــــــد مرارة من غياب رفيقي
مـــــــر ولاَّ لساني
زايد مرارة من رفيق خطاني
باعد مكــانه ماعاد مكـــاني
وحتي طريقه ماعـــاد طريقي
مـــــــــر خيره الشاهي
مالاش طعمة في لهاتي ساهي
زايد مــــرارة من غياب البـــاهي
موحـــال بعده مانديره بــــــاهي
مـــــــــر ناقص سكر
زِدْ في المرارة في المزاج يعكــــــــــــــر
حاست مذاقه في الرفيق اتفكــــــــــــــر
بعد مارحل من كان كـــــــــيف شقيقي

 و في الختام الشاهي في ثقافتنا شرق و الا غرب و الا جنوب.. براد الشاهي جزء من هويتنا على اختلاف كيف نديروه او نقدموه, الشاهي جزء منا كليبيين ما تقدرش تمسحه القهوة و الا الكابتشينو و الا فروبيه الحاج فتحي.. ^_^
